Clothing: the layering principle
On a northern river the weather changes within an hour: mornings are cold and damp, midday can be hot, evenings cool again. So pack in layers: base layer, warm fleece or wool, waterproof jacket and trousers. On the water add waders and waterproof boots. A head net and repellent are a must.

Fitness
You do not need athletic fitness, but days in the boat and on the bank are long. Regular walking, standing on uneven rocks and getting your shoulders used to casting all help. If you have a chronic condition, discuss the trip with your doctor in advance: the nearest hospital is far away.

How far ahead should I book?
The earlier the better: there is one departure with no more than 10 guests. Buy flights to Tura once your booking is confirmed.
Do I need my own rod?
Bring one if you have it. Ask the organiser whether rental tackle is available.
